Marettimo

Marettimo is the Western island of the archipelago of the Aegadian, often described as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”. Marettimo offers a fantastic flora and fauna patrimony, composed by rare species. Indeed, the natural habitat of Marettimo is characteristic and quite different from the other Aegadian islands. This contrast, as well as the presence of many rare species, is due to the numerous fresh water sources on the island.

Marettimo offers many interesting tracks and paths for trekkers. For those who prefer the magnificence of the sea, this island is a perfect choice: indented coastline, emerging and submerged caves, little caves and coves. For the amateurs of diving, we recommend the Secca del Cammello (camel’s rock), the dive inside a submerged cave and the discovery of a ship wreck skunked away from the coast.

During your holiday in Marettimo, if you are interested in history and archeological sites, you cannot miss visiting the Case Romane (Romaine Houses), a building of late Romaine republic age and the byzantine church built in the year thousand.

Another must-do in your trip in Marettimo is a boat tour for admiring the beautiful coast directly from the sea and for enjoying a swim in the most striking caves, reachable only by sea.
