Ko Lipe

Ko Lipe is an island on the Andaman Coast of southern Thailand.

The notoriety of Ko Lipe dates back to 2004, when the tsunami came. Although Ko Lipe is situated in front of Banda Aceh, the epicentre of the seaquake, it was not damaged. While Pak Bara (here depart the ferries to Lipe), Ko Lanta and the other surrounding islands were destroyed in part. In this way, Lipe has become a island kissed by fortune, protected by the stars. May be it was possible, because its barrier reef is not flat, but in grade, the low tide and, of course, the "shield" of islands that protect it: Rawi, Adang and the minors. Ko Lipe, in thai it means "flat island", is a beautiful jewel set in a long multi-coloured barrier reef.

Pattaya is the main beach, it presents a long stripe of white sand, very soft to the touch.

Here you can see the typical long tail, long boats, bungalows, restaurants and bars on the beach.

During the night in Pattaya you can breath the lively nightlife of Lipe.

Lipe, as Ko Bulon and Adang, are in usufruct to the community of Chao Lee, the sea gypsys, who was fisherman in the past and now they are excellent guides for snorkelling and diving.
