Olbia

Olbia is the capital of the historic region Gallura, located in the North-East side of Sardinia, called also in Sardinian dialect “Terranòa”.

Mainly known for its commercial port and international airport, it is the arrival point of many tourists discovering the breathtaking “Costa Smeralda “ ( the Emerald Coast).  Nevertheless, Olbia keeps many testimonies from its long history. around the city, it is possible to visit the Sacred Well “Sa Testa” from the Nuragic Age and the mythical Giant Graves of “Su Monte de s’Ape”. In the centre town, there other very interesting monuments, such as the Church San Paolo, the Palazzotto Umberto hosting the Civic Museum with many evidence of the Nuragic civilization, the Mura Puniche, the remains of a romaine aqueduct and the wonderful Basilica of San Simplicio.

Olbia’s old town offers plenty of boutiques, artisanal shops and evening markets, and many restaurants and taverns for tasting the amazing Sardinian cuisine.
