Turkey

Turkey is a country located between Europe and Asia. It is lapped by the Sea of Marmara to the North-West and the Black Sea to the North.

Its territory is characterized by the presence of mountain ranges, which extend from East to West, the highest peak is Mount Ararat, being 5165 meters above sea level. Turkey has wide green areas; indeed, it is covered by steppes in the continental parts, and by lush forests on the mountains and on the coasts. It also boasts three different climate zones: the coasts lapped by the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea have a Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm summer and mild winter. The areas facing the Black Sea have an oceanic climate with warm and humid summers and mild winters. Finally, there is also a continental climate with warm and dry summer and cold and snowy winter.

The population of Turkey is composed by different ethnic groups. Since its past, Turkey has hosted the main populations of the ancient world. This is why it is often called "Cradle of civilizations" and boasts several interesting archaeological sites and architectonical styles belonging to different old empires.

The masterwork is the city of Istanbul, with its beautiful church called Hagia Sofia, peak of the Byzantine architecture. Unmissable is also Cappadocia, a region of beautiful and fabled villages, where the local traditions are still preserved. Here, there are also several historical sites, geological attractions and rugged churches. Göreme, an open-air museum, is one of the main tourist attractions of the area. It offers a large number of rugged churches decorated with detailed frescos belonging to the Byzantine time.

It is impossible to describe all the qualities of Turkey, that every year attracts more and more tourists. What is clear is that Turkey provides an incredible variety of options. From the semi-desertic and wild beaches lapped by a crystal-clear sea, to the important historical and archaeological heritage, which will always seduce even the most restrained visitor; from the natural beauties of its landscapes to the cosmopolitan cities rich in social events and amenities. The several festivals, the tastes of traditional cooking and the hospitality of the local people will make the discovery of this nation even more charming.
