Meganisi
Meganisi is a greek island located in the Ionian Sea.
Its beautiful landscape is characterized by lush vegetation and rocky cliffs on the sea, emerald green and turquoise blue water and amazing beaches. Some of them can be reach on foot, while others are accessible only by boat. Fanari is one of the most wonderful beaches on the island, it is well known for its suggestive panorama and its tranquillity. It has a pebble beach passable only by boat. Agios Ioannis beach is another amazing pebble beach, it rarely gets crowded. It is reachable by boat or through a dirt road.
On the island there are three main settlements: Vathy, Katomeri and Spartochori. Vathy, with its port, is really the most fascinated one. The village with its churches and typical white houses is very suggestive. Here you can find many taverns and restaurants offering excellent and tasty local food, moreover you can practice fishing and sailing.
A worth-seeing stop is Papanikolis Sea Cave located in Vathy. It is the second largest Cave in Greece, during the World War II it was a private retreat for the submarine Papanikolis.
