Gytheio

Gytheio is the most important port on the Mani Peninsula.

Several tales are linked with this geographical area. According to the myth, Gytheio was founded by Heracles and Apollo, Castor and Pollux; moreover, it is told that here, Helen and Paris spent their first night, before reaching Troy.
