Weather on a sailing voyage

SAILING HOLIDAYS: WEATHER AND SAFETY

For clear reasons of safety and responsibility no sailing program can be guaranteed in any weather, there are no regulations about weather and sea conditions.

A 25 knots wind can be perfect for a wonderful emotion-packed summer cruise in conditions such as those in Maddalena, always protected from the waves; the same 25 knots in other situations can mean very hard sailing against the wind with huge waves, possible only to expert sailors.

Only the skipper of the boat will be responsible for the decision to set sail or not, he will choose according to weather conditions, warnings from the harbor office, the sailing area, the kind of boat, your safety, the crew (skills, age, physical and psychological conditions etc...) . The skipper's decision is unchallengeable because he is responsible for anything that might happen on the boat.

Fast sailing packages, with offshore and regatta sailing, are subject to the same conditions and the skipper will decide when and how to set sail, wether to continue the cruise-regatta or not, or to quit it for the safety of the crew. It might also happen that wind is scarce or the sea is not dead calm and you cannot feel the potential of these yachts.

It rarely happens that you lose most of the sailing program for weather problems, in these cases the boat noramally becomes a "hotel" and you take advantage of bad weathre and visit inland sites, relax and learn about sailing.

In none of these cases can Vivisail be held responsible for refunds of the sold package, the partner with which you have signed the contract descides how to behave through its skippers.

Anyway, the customer can agree upon an insurance policy with Vivisail insurance partner to protect him/herself from cancellation costs due to bad weather conditions.
