St.Lucia
St.Lucia is an island placed in the eastern Caribbean Sea and is one of the Windward Islands, the group of the Lesser Antilles that were more windward to sailing ship. This island is a Commowealth realm where, its capital, Castries, is protected by its big bay and on the other hand by the great fortifications. Nowadays the city is built upon the ruins of the old town and the only historical buildings kept intact are the Immaculate Chatedral and the Library.
St. Lucia is a volcanic island, its territory is very mountainous and the most important mountains are the Mount Gimie, the highest, and the Pitons.
The tourism is very important for the economy of the island and together with the market for bananas provide for the main resources of St. Lucia. People used to visit St. Lucia during the months between January to April, because of the tropical weather. The island boasts numerous beaches and resorts in the less mountainous territory. Due to its volcanic origin the beaches are both of white and dark sand and they are settled in the north part of the island.
Rodney Bay is the most touristic place of the island and on the beach of Reduit are located the majority of the hotels of St. Lucia. Pigeon Island National Park stand for one unmissable thing to visiti in St. Lucia. This park is the location of a restaurant and two beaches usually frequented by the numerous sailors that everyday decide to sail through these beautiful islands. To the south of Castries there's Marigot Bay, one of the most beautiful bay of the Caribbean which greatly developed in the last years. Ansa la Raye is an old fisherman's village which maintains an orginal Caribbean atmosphere.
