Does the phone receive calls?

SAILING HOLIDAYS: WILL I BE ABLE TO MAKE AND RECEIVE PHONE CALLS?

This depends on your telephone company and your destination.

We suggest you make agreements with your telephone company before your cruise and activate an international tariff plan allowing you to use the phone in international waters without roaming costs.

Anyway a sailing holiday means freedom and tranquillity so we suggest to turn off the phones and switch them on just for a few minutes in a defined period or never.

Furthermore, once at sea, some miles off land, telephones will have no coverage, so tell people that you won't be reachable according to your sailing program.

In case of cabin charter holidays, we mustn't and we shouldn't leave a marvellous cove under the stars because a guest needs phone coverage in a port or some miles away.

All Vivisail boats have VHF shore-to-shore radio for communication with other boats, ships and coast guard.

Vivisail  offshore yachts, racing yachts and yachts for ocean crossings have a satellite phone for emergencies. The use of the satellite phone for contacting relatives etc. is regulated by the skipper and the service cost will be defined prior to deparure.
