In the past the city was the most important trade center in the land, due to the importance and the efficiency of its port. Marseille is even now an important french centre for trade and industry, but also a touristic destinations.

In fact, Marsille is one of the most visited french cities, thanks to its beaches, considerable history, interesting architecture and culture. Worth visiting spots are the Old Port, the main port and marina of the city; La Vieille Charité in the Panie, a significant building, and the Pierre Puget park, both were designed by the Puget brothers and the Unité d'Habitation, designed by Le Corbusier. Then, you have a large choice between its large number of different museums.
