Horta

Horta is a town placed in the island of Faial which belongs to the archipelago of the Azores.

The marina of Horta is an important harbor built in 1876 and represent the first stop of the Atlantic crossings. The sea wall is covered with paintings and messages left by the travelers who have anchored at the port.  By walking around Horta you can see many ancient buildings, among them, the St. Saviour's Mother Church, built for Jesuits and now became the Horta Museum. The Horta Museum is popular for the collection of fig wood. The Peter Cafè Sport is a world famous cafè amongst the sailors. It stands for a meeting point of people from all life backgrounds and it was opened in 1918.

Horta is a beautiful town plunged in the beautiful natural landscapes of the Azores.
