Lampedusa

Lampedusa, main island of the archipelago Pelagie, is one of the wildest in the Mediterranean. This is a very small island, simple and easy to visit, but of an exquisite beauty.

Lampedusa is also known for the protected marina tortoise called “Caretta caretta”. The specimens are nursed in the main center in via Grecale and it is possible to live the thrilling event of the release in nature of these turtles on the beach of the Madonna.

All the beaches and small bays of Lampedusa deserve to be visited, for example: the beach Guitgia, Cala Pulcino, Cala Madonna and the characteristic Spiaggia dei Conigli (rabbit’s beach).

In the evening, you will taste the amazing local cuisine in the various restaurants, taverns and pizzeria of the island. Then enjoy a walk in via Roma, the main street of the island, with its evening market rich of stands and surprising items.

You cannot miss visiting the splendid island Linosa, easily reachable by hydrofoil. This volcanic island is the opposite of Lampedusa for its territory and vegetation; it is mountainous and green, with wonderfully preserved sea-bottom.
