Basse-Terre

The Basse-Terre is an island belonging to the Lesser Antilles, it is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.

Although its name means "Low Land", it is the highest island of Guadeloupe. In fact, its landscape is characterized by rocky coast and towering sea cliffs.

Above the city of Basse-Terre is located the suggestive village of Saint-Claude. This is famous for its wide plantations of coffee and banana and its stately homes. A worth visiting is the Zoological and Botanical Park, a huge reserve of the plants and animals of Guadeloupe.

Basse-Terre provides also a large number of beautiful and attractive swimming beaches.
